Neurofeedback
This picture shows the kinds of brainwaves (EEG) our brains make.
Our brains use these brainwaves to communicate within the brain and the rest of the body (central nervous system). When things get difficult the brain is misfiring and not communicating effectively. Neurofeedback addresses issues at the source (the brain) and has been described as yoga for the brain. It is a process of training your brain to self-regulate. A regulated brain gets through difficult things with more ease

What Neurofeedback is Not
-
Neurofeedback is not invasive and it is not painful.
-
The sensors on your head do not emit an electrical shock.
-
Neurofeedback cannot read your mind
-
Neurofeedback does not do anything to your brain or body
What happens in a session
I put sensors on your head and ear clips on your ears to pick up your brainwave activity. I use this information to give your brain the necessary feedback to help it alter its electrical activity.
I train your brain to optimize its firing patterns through various rewards in game-like activities.
Sessions are in the office once or twice a week.
Session duration is case-by-case; I recommend doing at least 15-20 sessions and then reevaluating goals and progress.

Individual Therapy
Based on my understanding of the mind-body connection, my professional philosophy involves working with you to explore how your body and brain influence your thoughts and emotions. Through cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral, and mindfulness techniques, we can work together to change unhelpful thinking patterns and behaviors, manage overwhelming emotions, and promote calmness in both your body and mind.
